The Hungry Little Caterpillar..Part 2

Ok, let me just start by saying NEVER did I think I'd get so excited by a jar of caterpillars.  But this is seriously the coolest thing to watch.  So much has happened over the past 2 days!
So Friday night we get home and two of the caterpillars were hanging from the top! YAY!

So I was all excited that we were going to have 2 out of 4 caterpillars probably turn into butterflies!  I woke up Saturday and as we're prepping for gymnastics Jaelynn comes running out, MOM! LOOK!
Well, what do ya know-the last two caterpillars are hanging upside down now!

So now we wait.  They are supposed to almost "curl up" like a ball and turn into chrysalids.  At that point we put them in a big cage type thing, and then watch them turn into butterflies!

Earthquakes, Hurricanes, and Teething...

OH MY! Ok, this week has been the CRAZIEST week ever.
Tuesday was just my normal, crappy, day at work.  I was up talking to Barbara when we heard a loud noise.  We both looked up, because it's usually the AC cutting on or the 2nd floor moving furniture.  Except this time..the noise got louder, and then everything started shaking.  I remember looking at her like WTF, and time seemed to slow down.  I looked outside and saw all the cars bouncing up and down, and then Barbara's picture fell.  Something in me snapped.  Barbara grabbed my arm and asked "WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO"! ...how the hell am I supposed to know? We don't have earthquakes in VIRGINIA.  lol.
I instinctively ran for my phone and called my mom.  She was driving with Jaelynn in the car, and it was the first thing that went through my head-make sure they're ok.  I got through:
me: OMG DID YOU FEEL THAT?!
mom: what are you talking about?
me: WE JUST HAD A F*CKING EARTH QUAKE!!"
mom: nah ah, what do you mean?
me: WE JUST HAD AN EARTHQUAKE! THE GROUND WAS F*CKING SHAKING!
mom: we didn't feel anything
me: OK I GOTTA CHECK ON AXTON.I'LL CALL YOU BACK.

I started to run out to the kiosk to check on Gale.  The windows were shaking like crazy, so I didn't know if anything broke or if she was ok.  Luckily she ran outside, and was safe and sound.  At the same time I was trying to call Grandma's house to check on Axton.  Insert panic attack.  EVERYONE, of course, was on their phone trying to get through to their loved ones.  I couldn't get through to grandma, Mike, my dad, ANYONE.  We were evacuated, so I grabbed my keys and wallet and headed outside.
For the next 35 minutes I was trying to repeatedly call my family.  I kept getting a busy signal, and no calls were going through. In a final, desperate, attempt I sent out a text Mike, my dad, and Misty "r u there, call me!"
About 10 minutes later my phone FINALLY started ringing! It was my dad.
me: OMG WHERE ARE YOU
dad: home.. (I don't get why he was so calm lol)
me: PLEASE GO CHECK ON GRANDMA AND THE KIDS (it was Tuesday, so I knew he was off)
....silence..we were disconnected.
So again, for the next 20 minutes I kept trying to use my phone again.
I finally got through to Mike about an hour after the earthquake, and he was fine-barely even felt anything.
Dad called me back-kids were ok.
Finally at 3:00 we got word that we were being sent hom, so I left to get the kids, then headed home.
When I got home I left the kids in the car so I could run in and make sure the house was safe.  I opened the door...no Tyson.  "Tyson?...Tyson?  Come here boy....TYSON?"  I finally make it into the basement, and he was hiding in a corner.  Poor puppy was so scared!  The house wasn't a disaster, just a few books had fallen down for the most part.  Worst damage were my picture frames that fell and broke =(

...Fast forward 3 days to Friday night.
Axton had his first tooth poke through!  His bottom tooth has a littttttle tiny white speck poking through.  I noticed it at Misty's house, and sure enough Misty and Mike saw it too!  Just shy of 20 weeks old, and baby boy is growing up too quickly!  I tried to get a picture, but he's too much of a wiggle worm =(
Saturday:
Helllooooooooo Hurricane Irene!  Right now it is 10:18 at night.  For the most part today hasn't been too bad; rain and a little windy, but not too bad.  The worst part of the storm is supposed to be here in about 2 hours, and we are all camped out in the living room.  Kids are asleep, Mike is asleep, so that leaves me, my computer, and my DVR.  What's better than that?  There have been a couple of tornadoes near Ocean City, but hopefully we don't get any here.
I really hope everyone has been able to stay safe this week.  I'm sure, like most, I won't forget it for a long time.

The Hungry Little Caterpillar...

My fabulous coworker Briana bought a present for Jaelynn and it arrived yesterday.  Can anyone guess what it is?
......
Nope, not a book.  A butterfly farm!
In the package is a little container with 5 caterpillars underneath a bunch of silk, and a "cage" to put them into once they are ready to turn into butterflies.  So..to start our adventure, I thought I'd post pictures of their progress!
Here are the caterpillars as they arrived.  A few of them have crawled around a bit, but for the most part they're staying underneath the silk.

It takes 7-10 days for them to enter their next stage, so hopefully soon I'll have new pics to post of them in their next stage!

Our New Adventure..

Running!  Mike and I are signing up to run a 10k in November!  Yes, we're crazy.  But I am actually super excited.  I went out today for the first time with running "on my mind" in over a year.  I did a 3 mile walk/jog.  Most of it was walking of course, but, the running will take over soon!  Mike stayed home with Axton, and Jaelynn rode her bike with me today.  I can't wait until the 4 of us are running/riding up the trail.
It's on like donkey kong, and I cannot wait to be a hot mama again!

The Road to 4...

I'm always getting emails from Shutterfly for free photobook offers.  Since I'm a bad mommy and don't have a baby book for Jaelynn, I decided to make her one for each year of her life, and put those free offers to good use!  This is my first "final" project, and I am in LOVE.  Shutterfly has seriously updated their options for making photobook, and it made it sooo much fun making this!  I hope you enjoy Jaelynn's Road to 4!

Take Me To The Fair..

As much as I wish it was, it's not Meet Me In St. Louis that i'm talking about.
This week we went to the annual Prince William County Fair.  Jaelynn, Axton, and I saw animals, different booths, people, and events.
The first thing Jaelynn wanted to do, of course, was see the animals.  We strolled through looking at cows, sheep, and goats.

Then..it was ride time!  She was excited to ride the carousel, the cars, and the elephants.

There was a a school bus that she didn't want to go on.  Being the wonderful mom I am, I made her.

Of course she bawled the entire time.  What happens as soon as she gets off? She said "Mom, can I go on it again?" She then proceeded to ride it about 5 consecutive times!  She lovedddd it!
Axton relaxed the entire time in his stroller watching everything.

Best purchase of the night? I got to get name signs made!

Granola

Who would have thought that this "city" girl could have so much granola in her?  Not only have I totally gotten into babywearing, I've started making Axton's baby food!  Sunday I mashed up a bunch of bananas, then froze them for little man.  Not only has he been eating them like a champ from a spoon, but he loves gnawing on them through his mesh feeder.

He also started his Prevacid this week for his reflux.  Let's hope it helps with his spitting up, and I can keep a clean shirt for once!

Horsin' Around

At the beginning of the summer Jaelynn started taking horseback riding lessons courtesy of my mom and Jeff.  Every Monday she goes to Purcellville to ride "her" pony, Little Vegas (LV).
She's learned to to get LV ready to ride

Balance and walking:

Trotting:

And most recently, she's starting to "jump" over the poles...

Here's a video of her starting to jump: Jaelynn jumping.
Because she rides on Mondays I haven't had a chance to watch her yet, but I get to go see her Labor Day weekend!  You can be certain I'll have lots of pics then!
And just because she's so cute, here's a few bonus pics:
